These terms and conditions outline how we provide the Switchboo Service and the rules you must follow. Please read these terms carefully before you use the service.
1. Information about us and how to get in touch
1.1 About us
We are Switchboo Ltd, a registered company in England & Wales (12303670) with our registered address at Kemp House, 160 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX.

2. The Switchboo Service
2.1 Our service takes the hassle out of energy switching by automatically switching your supply to the best deal we can find when your fixed tariff comes to an end, but we may switch you before then if you’re on a variable tariff.
2.2 The Switchboo Service is free of charge. We are paid a commission from the suppliers for switching you. Our service is completely impartial and the commissions we receive will never impact the switches we make. We will always switch you to the cheapest deal we can find from the selection of suppliers that we work with.
2.3 In the event of signing up, you will be asked to enter your email address and postcode on our website which will automatically register you as a Switchboo customer. We will send important notifications about your switch to the email address you provide.
2.4 In the event of a switch, we will notify you via email and provide details about your new energy supplier and any savings that are made. You will be given a 14 day cooling off period where you may cancel the switch if you change your mind. If you cancel outside of this period you may occur exit fees from the supplier that we have switched you to. We will store the information you have provided and automatically rerun the switching process again for you on your behalf.
2.4 To carry out the Switchboo Service you grant us permission to switch your energy supply for you, arrange your switch and create legal relationships with the supplier we or you have selected. We will share information about you with energy suppliers and our partners.
3. Our contract with you
3.1 Our contract
When you sign up to use the Switchboo Service, we will provide the service under these terms and conditions.
3.2 We don’t supply your energy, we just provide the switching service.
3.3 When we switch you to a new energy tariff, you will enter into a separate contract with the energy supplier and our job pauses until your next switch.
3.4 The energy supplier is responsible for completing the switch and communicating with your existing supplier. We are not responsible for your energy suppliers contract with you and we recommend that you read your energy supplier’s terms and conditions carefully. Our terms and conditions only apply to the Switchboo Service.
3.4 We will alert you if we cannot accept you as a customer or complete a switch for you.
3.5 You must be 18 or over to use the Switchboo Service.
3.6 You can only use the Switchboo Service to compare energy plans for households in the United Kingdom.
4. Using the Switchboo Service
4.1 Whilst you are a customer of Switchboo you must not:
4.1.1 cancel your energy directly with your energy supplier, you must tell us if you move house;
4.1.2 switch your energy independently or change your tariff as this obstructs the Switchboo Service and may expose you to early exit fees;
4.1.3 cancel a switch we have arranged without informing us; or
4.1.4 designate anyone else to perform a service the same as or similar to the Switchboo Service.
Please contact us immediately in the event of wanting to do any of these things listed above. If you do not, Switchboo may continue to switch your energy for you.
4.2 Please get in touch with your energy supplier if you have switched and not heard from them within 7 days. You should also contact your new energy supplier if you experience any issues with the switch.
4.3 You must be the bill payer or have the bill payer’s permission to use the Switchboo Service.
5. The information you provide
5.1 The Switchboo Service operates best when you provide us with correct information. You must ensure that the information you provide is accurate so that any quotes that we provide will be correct. You must update us if any of the information you have provided changes. It’s extremely important that you tell us about any changes in your household’s energy consumption. We will not be held responsible for any loss or damage caused when we execute the Switchboo Service.
6. The information we provide and the switch
6.1 The tariffs we offer may only be available at the date and time the information is provided. New tariffs may become available before or after the switch takes place and the Switchboo Service will not take those into account.
6.2 We will try our best to make sure that the information we provide you is correct and up to date. Please note that tariffs and rates may change rapidly and without any notice. This means that when you have switched, the supplier could change their tariff or rate (but they don’t usually do this if you have switched to a fixed rate plan).
6.3 We work with a wide panel of suppliers that offer both good customer service and competitive tariffs. When we offer you tariffs and suppliers, we do not include the whole energy market. This means that we may not switch you to the absolute cheapest tariff but we will always make sure that you’re with a great energy supplier. The savings that are shown on our website is the money that you could save by switching to the new tariff and it’s compared against your existing tariff.
7. Using our website or apps
7.1 You understand the following rules when using our website or app:
7.2 We may modify and update our site from time to time.
7.3 We do not warrant that our site will always be available or be undisturbed. We may restrict the availability of our site at any time and we will try and notify you of any postponement or termination.
7.4 You are responsible for making sure that all users who access our site through your connection are informed of these terms and that they abide by them.
7.5 Our site is available to consumers living in the United Kingdom and it is completely free to use.
7.6 We own the intellectual property rights on our site and the content produced on it. The content is protected by copyright laws and you must not use any part of the content on our site for commercial purposes.
7.7 You must keep your account information secure and confidential. We have the power to disable any user account at any time if you have not followed these terms. Please contact us immediately if you have detected any suspicious activity in your account.
7.8 You must use your own virus protection software as we cannot guarantee that our site will always be secure from viruses or bugs. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to our site, database, computer or server within our organisation. By violating this provision you will be committing a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and we will contact the relevant law enforcement and share your identity with them.
7.9 The Switchboo brand is trademarked and you must not use the name or logo without our written approval.
8. Cancellation by you
8.1 The length of our contract
Our contract will run until indefinitely until it is ended by either of us.
8.2 How to cancel
You may cancel the Switchboo Service at any time by contacting us. We will cancel the service as quickly as possible, however this will not change switches that are in progress.
8.3 Cooling off period.
When you switch onto a new energy tariff you will be given a 14 day cooling off period where you can cancel if change your mind. You must inform the new supplier and us immediately in the event of cancellation.
8.4 Cancelling your energy supply
If you want to cancel your energy supply, switch outside of the Switchboo Service, or if you move house, you must inform us. If you do not notify us, we will continue to provide the Switchboo Service.
9. Cancellation by us
We may cancel our contact at any time if you fail to meet these terms. We can also cancel, pause or terminate the Switchboo Service at any time for technical, business or legal reasons.
10. Other important terms
If you are experiencing any problems with your account, please contact us and we will try our best to help.
We do not eliminate or restrict our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for personal injury or death caused by our negligence or the negligence of our agents, subcontractors or employees for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
10.2 Questions and complaints
If you have any concerns about the Switchboo Service please our team at email@example.com. Please note that we cannot deal with complaints about your energy supplier, you will need to contact them if you have any concerns with regards to your energy supply.
10.3 Changes to these terms and conditions
We may update these terms and conditions at any time. You can check for changes by visiting this page.
10.4 How we we may get in touch with you
We may contact you by telephone, email or post using the details you provided to us.
10.5 We may transfer this agreement to someone else
We may transfer this agreement to another organisation. We will always notify you if this happens and we will ensure that the transfer will not affect your rights in the agreement.
10.6 Third parties
This contract is between you and us. Nobody else has any rights to enforce this agreement.
10.8 Responsibility for third parties
We are not liable for what energy suppliers or other third parties do or fail to do. If we have switched you to a new supplier or tariff, we are not held responsible for any loss or damage you may suffer under your contract with them.
10.9 Enforcing the contract
We can enforce this contract at any time and take reasonable action where it is needed.
10.10 Contract laws
These terms and conditions are governed by English law and you may bring legal proceedings in respect of this contract in the English courts.
Refer a friend
Our Refer a Friend program allows registered Switchboo customers to earn a reward by referring friends to Switchboo.
1. Only registered users are eligible to participate in the Refer a Friend program.
2. To be eligible for the payment the referred member must have successfully switched their supply via Switchboo.
3. If the Referee cancels their switch with Switchboo, the Referrer will not receive the reward.
4. The Referee must sign up as a member of Switchboo via the Referrer’s personalised link, as supplied to them at www.switchboo.com/referrals.
5. If the same person is introduced by more than one member of Switchboo, the reward will be based on the Referrer’s link that first results in registration. Referrals can only be made by the existing member’s referral link.
6. You cannot refer yourself or an existing Switchboo member.
7. Switchboo members are not permitted to impersonate Switchboo in any way.
8. You are not allowed to advertise your personal link across any search engines or social media platforms.
9. The Referrer will receive a reward when the Referee successfully switches their energy supply through Switchboo.
10. The reward amount will be shown through online marketing and will vary per campaign.
11. The reward for the Referee will be delivered by a method of payment decided by Switchboo which could include a gift card or other.
12. Rewards may not be sold and are not transferable.
13. Payment will be made following payments being made to us by the supplier.
14. In any disputed case the decision of Switchboo is final and binding.
15. Switchboo reserves the right to withdraw this promotion at any time in the event of unforeseen circumstances. In this situation a notice will be placed on the website.
16. Switchboo reserves the right to amend, withdraw or extend this promotion at any time without notice.
